Since 2016, we’ve helped thousands of first time, self-employed, buy to let, let to buy, remortgaging, and even experienced buyers across the UK find their ideal mortgage at no additional cost. But where did it all begin?
Fees Free Mortgages was first established by current managing director, mortgage expert, and full-time dad, Martin Bright, in the small town of Manningtree, Essex.
After many years, and hundreds of successful applications, Martin has passed his initial ambitions and values on to our entire team of mortgage experts, financial advisors, administrators, and case managers. We keep things clear and simple, value clients over commission, and most importantly are, and always will be fees-free.
Now, the growing Fees Free Mortgages team help couples, families, individuals, investors and landlords from across the UK find their mortgage match every day. We’d love to help you too.
Mortgage and Protection Advisor
Martin is the proud director at Fees Free Mortgages and the Valley Financial Group. He’s been advising on mortgages and protection products since 2016 and has been directly authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority since 2018.
He loves helping first time buyers buy their first house, getting the best possible mortgage deals for homeowners, and, of course, protecting all aspects of personal finance with tailored protection plans. Over the years he’s been particularly honoured to receive lots of referrals from existing clients – but promises that no matter how busy he gets, he’ll always answer the phone and maintain the personal touch so important to his work.
Outside of work, Martin is married with two delightful daughters who are ‘great fun’. Although he’s never played an instrument, he loves music and enjoys watching it live. He’s even been to some iconic American venues such as Red Rocks in Colorado, and The Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington State!
Mortgage and Protection Administrator
Karyn joined the Fees Free Mortgages team in March 2021, becoming a vital member straight away.
A skilled mortgage administration assistant, Karyn is here to help package and process your mortgage in full. You’ll hear from her as soon as you’ve had your mortgage agreed by Martin, at which point she’ll liaise with all parties in the mortgage process. She’s particularly excellent at achieving mortgage offers in good time – helping everyone from first time home buyers to experienced homeowners secure every element of their deal quickly and effectively.
At weekends you may spot Karyn scooting around the Tendring Coast, or watching the fireworks in Clacton with her daughter.
Financial Protection Specialist
Financial protection specialist Adelle joins the team after finishing maternity leave in spring 2022. Prior to starting a family, Adelle worked as a Senior Practitioner within Children’s Social Services at Essex County Council. Adelle is your protection specialist; helping you protect your building, and its contents – ensuring that your mortgage, income and health are protected too. Outside of work, Adelle has two noisy daughters who keep her occupied, but in her rare free time, she enjoys being at the beach and dreaming of kayaking, paddle boarding, or surfing.
Compliance and Quality Control Assistant
Jess joined the FFM team in Jan 2023 as our Compliance and Quality Control Assistant. It’s Jess’ responsibility to ensure that the information we obtain and the documentation we provide to banks is top quality. It’s also Jess’ role to ensure the suitability of advice is first class too. You probably won’t hear from Jess as she conducts her due diligence behind the scene but she’s an essential member of the team maintaining integrity in the business we transact.
Jess previously worked for the Ministry of Defence in London, bringing a wealth of analytical skills and professionalism to the team.
Outside of the office, Jess has crazy two-year-old twin boys who keep her busy most of the time but otherwise enjoys time with the family, watching movies and playing games too!
Compliance Assistance
Lisa is an absolute star who has been with Fees Free Mortgages since the beginning of time. Lisa has helped with various tasks over the years including creating job roles, producing important company documents and overseeing the financials of the business.
Lisa’s current role involves tracking and confirming the commission we receive from mortgage lenders and protection providers as well as reporting back to the team on the important figures for performance, for example; ensuring the average time between mortgage application submission and receiving the full mortgage offer is on target.
You may see Lisa out and about in the fields and footpaths in the beautiful Suffolk countryside with her dogs Kiwi and Ollie.

We’re able to offer our services free because we’re paid by lenders for our brokerage in complete mortgages or remortgages – but aren’t tied to any specific bank or institution, meaning we’re still able to offer completely unbiased advice, and will always explore the entire market to find the best deal for you.
